Shinji Wakasa, Shingo Okazaki

Sound artist Shinji Wakasa and artist Shingo Okazaki will hold a joint exhibition. In the first half of the exhibition, both artists will give a live performance and actually collaborate with each other at the venue. The second half of the exhibition will be a video installation.The two artists have been friends for several years, and have long wished to collaborate on something, and fortunately, the gallery took over this project. From the beginning of the project, it was planned to be a work that combined painting and sound, however, not an installation simply inserting sound into the exhibition space. Therefore, Wakasa attempted to improvise sound while witnessing Okazaki's paintings. Throughout the exhibition hall, there will be countless speakers installed to play five songs of their collaboration.

Visitors are invited to reassemble the deconstructed sound sources in their imagination while experiencing the works.

若狭真司、岡崎真悟

サウンドアーティスト・若狭真司と美術家・岡崎真悟の共同展を開催します。前期は両名によるライブパフォーマンスを行い、会場で実際にコラボレーションを実現します。後期は映像を交えたインスタレーションを実施致します。

数年前から親交のある二人が、以前から共同で何かできればという願いを、今回幸いにもギャラリーが引継ぐ形となった。企画当初から絵画と音を交えた作品を提案していたが、展示空間に音を嵌め込むだけのインスタレーションな役割ではないことは明らかであった。そこで岡崎の描く現場に立ち会い、若狭が即興で音を奏でる試みをした。二枚の紙(支持体)をじっと見つめる岡崎、足元にはコラージュする大小様々な紙が散乱している。ハサミで切ったり、手で裂いたり、「ザキザキ、ビリビリ」鳴り響く破れる音を若狭がその場で録音するや、拾った音を重複させたり、リバーブかけて立体感を加えたりと、唐突に作品の制作は進行していた。岡崎が鬼気迫った表情で突如画面を擲り書きし出した、鉛筆の芯が尽く折れる筆圧は凄まじく、それに答える若狭のサウンドも迫力を増す。引っ掻き、擦り、愛で、叩く、彷徨いながら、時に交わり、また静観する。一連のやり取りが小一時間続くと、ふと岡崎の手が止まった。目の前にある作品は無論視覚から認知される訳であるが、若狭の加えたサウンドが色に艶を、筆跡に動きを持たせたことで、知覚からも絵画の情報を得ているようだ。本展では、そんな二人の共作が“曲”として5曲(5作品)用意され、会場に無数のスピーカーと共にインストールされる。

解体された音源を脳内で編集しつつ作品を鑑賞してもらえたら幸いです。
